to Serve Our Community
In the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in 2020, the one full-service grocery store in North Minneapolis was damaged and closed down. In response, Sanctuary became a distribution site, and for months thousands of people from North Minneapolis and other parts of the Twin Cities Metro came to receive food, toiletries, and other essential items.
Because of the COVID pandemic, we shifted to drive-thru distributions and eventually saw a need for a more relational way of distributing goods that would allow us to meet needs and build relationships. With this in mind, Haven Community Food Pantry was born in 2022, and it’s been a great way for us to connect with and meet the immediate needs of our neighbors!
Haven Pantry is open in the Sanctuary Resource Center (710 West Broadway Ave. in Minneapolis) Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 3 PM.
